How to stop squatting in Malaysia?

In order to address this problem, the government should play a vital role by taking appropriate action to prevent the problem of squatter settlements from becoming serious. For example, through the addition of low-cost housing afforded by squatter settlers. In addition, under the Rancangan Malaysia ke-7 (RM-7), over 190,000 low-cost housing units were built nationwide. In addition, the government should also emphasize the construction of houses under the Pelan Induk Urbanisasi to address all the problems in urban areas across the country as well as the strategic housing network. In fact, these low-income groups are helped because they deserve to rent or live elsewhere rather than live in squatter areas. There are 3 programs including

1. Program Yayasan Perumahan untuk Termiskin (YPUT). The program is funded by Bank Negara Malaysia and targets a total of 20,963 housing units nationwide.
2. Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) under the Jabatan Perumahan Negara (NRD), Kementerian Perumahan and Kerajaan Tempatan. The PPR has been introduced by the Majlis Tindakan Ekonomi Negara (MTEN) with a target of building 54,679 units of houses for rent to squatters nationwide.
3. The new Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) has targeted the construction of 90,000 PPR units nationwide. 50,000 units will be rented while 40,0000 units will be sold. The new PPR policy will be implemented in accordance with the provisions approved by the government.

The control of migration entry needs to be strictly followed to solve this squatter problem. In the event of an influx of domestic and foreign migrations, it has led to widespread squatter settlements in urban areas. Therefore, the entry of this migration should be emphasized by certain parties to control the squatter settlements. The large influx of migrants from abroad has also brought many negative issues to the country. Foreigners' involvement also contributes to serious social problems in our country. In the squatter settlements there are also many foreigners living in the area. It is clear that migration entry should also be taken seriously to settle this problem.

Therefore, providing affordable home to the people is a major responsibility to the government. In addition, a comfortable home environment can save young people from slipping into unhealthy activities and thus help us avoid a variety of social problems in our country.
